Dear WUWM members and guests,

In September I will have the honour and pleasure of welcoming you to the WUWM autumn conference, which will provide a perfect end to a particularly eventful, busy 2009, marked by our celebrations to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the move from Les Halles in Paris to Rungis, World Capital of Fresh Produce. We will therefore host an exceptionnal WUWM Conference for this occasion.

We will explore the future of our markets and discuss, assisted by some first rate speakers, what wholesale markets need to do to maintain their central role in the distribution of fresh produce, particularly in the face of new challenges from mass distribution, with its new local formats and the complexity of city centre logistics. We will also take a modern look at the role of marketing and communication in our markets and the impact this can have on our key players, whether suppliers or clients.

The conference will also give us an opportunity to invite both WUWM delegates and partners to some of our capital’s prestigious venues, to enjoy all the faces of Paris and be charmed by its spell.

So I look forward to seeing you all at this important gathering.
